App: Life in the UK Operated by: ExamKit Effective: 1 May 2026 Last updated: 1 May 2026

The short version: ExamKit keeps your data on your device. We don't use analytics, advertising trackers, or accounts. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. There is very little personal data involved at all.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the Life in the UK app ("the App") handles your information. The App is operated by George Bielinski, trading as ExamKit ("we", "us", "our") and is available through the Apple App Store.

We respect your privacy. The App is designed to collect as little personal information as possible, and what it does collect is used only to make the App work for you.

2. What the App Does

The Life in the UK app provides practice tests and mock tests to help you prepare for the official Life in the UK Test. It stores your progress, test history, and settings on your device so the App can remember where you are and personalise your experience.

3. Information the App Collects

The App is built to keep your data on your own device wherever possible. The categories of information involved are described below.

Data stored on your device

The following information is saved locally on your iPhone or iPad and is not transmitted to us:

Purchase information

If you choose to upgrade to the Pro version, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple. The App receives a confirmation from Apple that your Pro entitlement is active. We do not see or store your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID.

The App also supports Restore Purchases, which allows you to recover a previous purchase on a new device or after reinstalling. This works through Apple's systems and does not require us to store your purchase history.

Notification preferences

If you choose to enable daily reminders, the App stores your preference locally so it knows whether to send them. We do not collect or transmit this preference. Notifications are sent and managed by your device, not by us.

Analytics and crash reporting

The App does not use third-party analytics or crash reporting services. The only diagnostic information that may be shared is what you have chosen to share with Apple through your device's standard "Share with App Developers" and "Share with Apple" settings, which are controlled by you in iOS Settings.

4. How the Information Is Used

The information described above is used only to:

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than running the App.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share your information with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. We do not sell your data.

The only systems the App relies on are operated by Apple - specifically, Apple's in-app purchase system (for Pro upgrades) and Apple's notification system (for optional reminders). Apple's handling of this information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.

Beyond Apple's purchase and notification systems, the App does not share your data with anyone.

6. In-App Purchases

If you choose to upgrade to Pro, your purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. You enter your payment details with Apple, not with us. We do not receive or store your full card details, billing information, or Apple ID.

The App offers a Restore Purchases option so you can recover a previous Pro entitlement on a new device or after reinstalling. This function uses Apple's systems and does not transmit any payment information to us.

7. Notifications

The App can send you optional daily reminders to help you stay consistent with your test preparation. These reminders are turned off by default and are only sent if you choose to enable them.

You can turn notifications on or off at any time in your device's Settings under Settings > Notifications > Life in the UK. Disabling notifications at the system level will stop all reminders from the App.

8. Data Retention

Your App data - progress, test history, mistakes review, and settings - is stored locally on your device. It is not held on our servers.

You can remove this data at any time by:

If you have purchased Pro, your entitlement remains linked to your Apple ID. You can restore it at any time using Restore Purchases. To request the cancellation of a subscription or refund, you should contact Apple directly through your App Store account.

9. Children's Privacy

The Life in the UK app is intended for adults preparing for the official Life in the UK Test, which is taken as part of an application for British citizenship or settlement. The App is not specifically directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has used the App and provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information the App handles, including keeping your data on your own device wherever possible and using Apple's secure systems for purchases and notifications. No system is completely secure, but we have designed the App so that there is very little personal data exposed to risk in the first place.

11. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following choices about how the App handles your information:

If you would like to exercise any rights you have under UK data protection law - including the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we may hold - please get in touch using the contact form on our main page.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version in the App and on examkit.co.uk, and we will revise the Effective date at the top of this policy. Significant changes will be communicated through the App where appropriate.

13. Contact

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or about how the App handles your information, please get in touch through the contact form on our main page.
